GREAT DIESEL SOUND! The Ludmilla Diesel Locomotive (aka classes 230, 231, 232, 234) of the (former) East German Railways was built by the diesel locomotive works "October Revolution" in Woroschilowgrad/Soviet Union (today: Luhansk) in the 1970´s and 80´s. This Diesel Locomotive class has a 16-cylinder turbocharged 4-stroke diesel engine (the legendary 5D49!) with chargecooler and 3000 HP, 6 axles and is designed for heavy freight and passenger trains. This Russian Diesel Locomotive has been in service in many former Eastern European countries. The Diesel Locomotive has a nice sound, especially in the test facility at the end of the clip. This rebuilt RENFE class 333 locomotora is shunting some gravel cars at Bobadilla Estación in Andalucía in southern Spain. These diesel locomotives were built in the 1970s and refurbished from 2000-2005 by Alstom using PRIMA technology. Since Vossloh bought the company from GEC Alstom in 2005, the locomotive also has a Vossloh sign on its side. Engine: General Motors GM 16-645-E-3 with 3300 hp (2500 kW)

発車時に迫力のターボエンジン音を聴くことができます。ターボの排気タービンのキーンという音が混じっていてとてもかっこよかったです。前から４両目の後部付近の煙突から出る排ガスが真っ黒で、発車後、ホームに煙が充満しました。う～ん、懐かしい良い香り。タクシーと気動車の排ガスのにおいはやめられません。それにしても最新の電車顔負けの加速でした。

鳥取行きの特急はまかぜです。このキハ181系はキハ58系もほとんど消える中、JRに唯一残された国鉄時代の気動車特急です。残念ながら2011年春をもって完全に引退しその後廃車されるようです。私個人としては車内放送の前に鳴るオルゴール「アルプスの牧場」がとても好きで、もう一度乗車しそれを実際に聞いてみたいと思っています。

Part 2 of 2 videos filmed on 09/01/10. On a bitterly cold Saturday 9th January, the East Lancashire Railway held it's first diesel day of 2010. The theme on this occasion was Type 4 and 5 locos. BR Class 40 diesel 40145, Class 47 D1501 (47402 recently repainted in two-tone green), plus BR Class 55 Deltics 55022 Royal Scots Grey and D9016 (55016) Gordon Highlander. The latter deltic had been purchased and moved to Bury from Barrow Hill a few days earlier, and made a swift, successful debut at it's new home. A type 3 interloper was also out and about; ex EWS 37418 Pectinidae was substituting for Class 50 diesel 50015 Valiant, on train heating and assistance. In Part 2, we see D9016 Gordon...

The Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe hauled by a rare, preseved(so they say), South African Railways Class 32-000,General Electric U18C1 High Hood Diesel Locomotive, Diaz Beach, Mossel Bay, Western Cape, South Africa. The Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe is usually hauled by Steam Locomotives but the use of steam is not always possible due to weather conditions so Class 32-000 Diesel Locomotives are used instead. Only 3 Class 32-000 Diesel Locomotives survive today: #32-029, #32-042 and #32-047. ( #32-047's status currently unknown )
